The Board of Directors, with input from alumni, is undertaking the decision to either rebuild or sunset our non-profit, Leadership Santa Barbara County (LSBC). As part of this process we are accepting Board of Director Interest Forms from our alumni community through August 7, 2023.

As you likely know, LSBC has not had a cohort since we canceled the 2021 program due to COVID, and it has been challenging to relaunch the program in a way that befits LSBC’s legacy of providing a transformational leadership experience. In the last several years, the program has been sustained by a small but mighty board of dedicated alumni. Currently, there are six members on the Board of Directors and two of those are needing to step down—needless to say, LSBC is at a crossroads.

With this in mind, we are asking you to help us determine what our next step is. We either need enough alumni to step forward and join the board, allowing us to relaunch, or we will need to sunset the organization. Please complete our Board Interest Form so that we may gauge the interest of our alumni community. With your input, our board plans to make the decision on the future of LSBC by mid-August.

We hope there is enough interest in this great organization so that we can maintain its place in building community in Santa Barbara County, but we recognize the reality that it is difficult to maintain a large board dedicated to running a program without paid staff. We also take comfort in knowing that robust leadership programs will still be offered in our community, for example, Katherine Harvey Fellows at Leading from Within.
